Climate: resilience, adaptation, mitigation

Climate change poses to be a serious global risk exacerbating socio-economic problems and increasing the threat of devastating impacts on natural resources, infrastructure and livelihoods. SSFA makes a contribution by supporting climate resilience, adaptation and mitigation measures against impacts of climate change.

We contribute by assessing vulnerability of socio-economic and natural systems to impacts of climate change and options of adaptation, resilience and mitigation. We look at vulnerabilities and capacities of natural and human systems to adapt to climate change and identify options for creating a sustainable future through development of equitable and integrated solutions to mitigation and adaptation. We offer support to our clients through various climate resilience, climate adaptation efforts and sustainable development platforms including:

Water

SSFA offers water and waste water management consulting services to help provide sustainable access to water resources and protect water quality for all communities including rural and small communities. We partner with organization such as government institution, non-government organization and private entities to help enhance your water resilience by balancing the long-term environmental, economic and social impacts of your water use. We provide integrated approach to water resources management (IWRM) and provide practical advice for sustainably managing water resources.

Health (A healthy society is a productive society)

SSFA firm is directly or indirectly involved in promoting the health and well-being of people. We participates in calls that cuts across all sectors involving mankind, such as water, climate, and environment projects. We provide practical guidelines and policies that foster for the safety and health of communities, for example advocating for healthy lifestyles.

SSFA is competent as it participates in calls related to health. It also collaborates with international firms to provide recommendations, policies and consultancy services related to health.

The skills and competencies SSFA offers are up to date. The firm provides services that are focused on improving people’s health. For example, the potential use of new technologies such as nanotechnology, machine learning techniques and many more. Nanotechnology for example can be used for the development of a cheap, rapid diagnostic test of any disease. The ease access of such tests would allow patients enroll into treatment programs sooner, saving millions of lives.

SSFA is also keen to participate in projects that affect social welfare of individuals in communities directly or indirectly. Sustainable Energy

SSFA support utilization of renewable energy currently about 15% of global energy comes from renewables. Renewable energy provides affordable, clean, low carbon and safe energy. SSFA works on projects that calls for harnessing sustainable energy. Main focus in on solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower, Biogas, biomass energy. We work extensively with the government and organization on strategies for renewable energy exploitation while addressing sustainable development goals. SSFA covers energy policies, regulation and environmental aspects of renewably energy we bring world class expertise in the latest energy generation technologies.

Natural Resources

SSFA is an International consultancy firm that is mandated to work towards the protection and preservation of Africa’s natural resources. SSFA pushes for activities that promote good use of the renewable energy, protecting the climate, the marine life and to encourage efficient use of land.

Life on Land

Protecting and preserving the fragile environment is one of SSFA’s key priorities. This is achieved this by applying for calls that promote the efficient use of land, such as the restoration of the ecosystem by promoting afforestation, reforestation and discouraging deforestation. SSFA thus work towards replenishing the earth and living to fulfil the late Prof Wangari Maathai’s philosophies because initiatives such as afforestation has the potential to create a natural forest in the future.

People and livelihoods (Scaling up sustainable livelihoods)

Africa is considered the poorest continent on Earth. While tremendous developmental gains have been made in the last 50 years, half of Africa’s population live on less than 1.25 dollar a day. SSFA researches and consults on people livelihoods in Africa with the aim of informing policy and practice around sustainable livelihoods on the continent. We research on how people make a living, access basic services such as health care, education and water, and perceive and engage with governance at local and national levels, and household dynamic related to gender, sharing of labor, resources and financial decision-making.

1. Conducting household economic and livelihoods assessments.
2. Explore household dynamics, livelihood trends and market opportunities.
3. Assess sources of income of households and how they utilize resources.
4. Livelihood and gender dynamics at household level.
5. Examine attitudes/beliefs and practices that influence livelihoods and identify opportunities that exist or could be created to improve household livelihood.
6. Urban vs Rural household.
7. Identifying potential activities including cooperatives, trainings, and income generation activities that reduce vulnerabilities and contribute to women’s social and economic empowerment to promote self-reliance.

Training and Capacity building

Sustainable Solutions for Africa (SSFA) offers tailor-made training and capacity building to a target audience in specialized areas as needed. The tailor-made approach is to enable people, communities and organizations to develop, implement and maintain solutions to development challenges within the African continent. Approaches implemented enhance skills, knowledge, behavior, processes and capacity. The aim is for the target group to perform at its optimal in line with key objectives, in the most sustainable manner.

Project Management

We offer project management specializing on sustainable development projects with specific reference to the complete project life cycle, including but not limited to formulation, scoping, planning, execution, inception levels and systems.
